Synopsis

A catastrophe called the Burn vaporised most of the galaxy's dilithium in an instant, collapsing warp travel and fracturing every alliance. The Federation still exists — barely, in hiding. Burnham spent a year alone before finding her ship, long enough to build a courier life alongside Book, whose black-market routes map a galaxy the old Starfleet charts never covered. Reconnecting with the crew is only the first step: the real mission is uncovering what caused the Burn and deciding whether the Federation is still worth rebuilding.
