Possession has shadowed Kyle his whole life — the people he loves turn into something else, and the demons hurt them. In town it starts with a boy named Joshua that Reverend Anderson is certain is possessed. Kyle learns his touch can pull a soul back out of the dark, and he works case by case with the preacher: a mother locked in a coma, a killer who calls him Outcast, an estranged wife and a daughter he barely knows. The deeper he digs, the clearer it becomes — something has been watching him for a very long time.
This AMC series runs on quiet horror and guilt rather than jump scares, closer to Southern gothic than a standard exorcism tale. The finale strikes at the person nearest to Kyle. If you like slow, oppressive horror, watch Outcast Season 1 online on iFILM.
