Synopsis
The Way Back (2020) is a drama from director Gavin O'Connor that you can watch online on iFILM. Ben Affleck plays Jack Cunningham, once a high-school basketball prodigy, now a construction worker who keeps a beer in his coat on the way to the job site.
His old Catholic school asks him to coach its losing team, a group of kids nobody believes in. Jack takes the job even though he can barely manage his own days. Coaching gives him something to show up for, but the drinking holds on, and a buried family loss aches harder than he lets anyone see. This is no tidy underdog story built around a championship buzzer. O'Connor keeps it grounded in one man trying to climb back.
