Synopsis
Prelude to a Kiss (1992) is a romantic drama with a supernatural twist you can watch online on iFILM. Peter and Rita fall in love fast and get married. At the reception, an elderly stranger asks to kiss the bride. After that kiss, Rita is not quite Rita anymore.
Alec Baldwin plays Peter, who slowly realises the woman he married is inhabiting a different body — or rather, someone else is inhabiting hers. Meg Ryan takes the stranger's soul on as a physical and emotional challenge. The supporting cast includes Kathy Bates, Ned Beatty and Stanley Tucci in an early role. Director Norman René adapted Craig Lucas's Broadway play with much of the original stage cast intact. The film asks what it means to love a person when their body gives you nothing to hold onto — which sounds like a gimmick but lands as something genuinely affecting.
