Synopsis
Olive Kitteridge (2014), Season 1 is HBO's four-part drama you can watch online on iFILM — an adaptation of Elizabeth Strout's Pulitzer-winning novel, with Frances McDormand in the lead.
The setting is a quiet Maine town, the span is roughly twenty-five years. Olive teaches middle-school math, says exactly what she thinks, and rarely lets warmth show, though she feels more than she admits. The opening hour pairs her with a fragile former student and ends in a hunting-trip tragedy. From there the story moves through her son Christopher's wedding and his old resentment, her worry over Henry, the gentle town pharmacist, and her slow, reluctant reach toward letting another person in. It unfolds in jumps across the years, built from small portraits of a small community.

Kevin returns to Maine and Olive is able to convince him to stay over and attend Christopher's wedding-rehearsal dinner. Olive clashes with the bride's mother and scares the flower girl at the ceremony.

Christopher suggests counseling to Olive after she and Henry have a scary episode following dinner with friends. Later, Christopher confronts his mother about how she treated him as a child.

Olive visits Christopher and his second wife in New York, but abruptly returns to Maine, where she gets some bad news about Henry, and ultimately befriends a lonely widower she meets while out for a walk.
