Ex-nurse Annie Wilkes (Lizzie Caplan) — yes, that Annie Wilkes from Misery — arrives in town on the run with her teenage daughter Joy, stealing medication to stay functional, pretending to be ordinary. She isn't. At the same time, local enforcer Ace Merrill is demolishing a Somali community's neighborhood for a mall, unaware he's digging up a cemetery. The darkness of Jerusalem's Lot is stirring beneath the town, and Ace has started doing its bidding. Episode five flashes back through Annie's fractured childhood to show how she became who she is, while Joy unravels the truth about her own origins — a truth her mother buried years ago.
