Synopsis
Rescued by Ruby (2022) is a family drama you can watch online on iFILM, based on the true story of Rhode Island state trooper Dan Hughes and Ruby, a shelter dog who had been returned by five different families. Grant Gustin stars as the trooper; director Katt Shea produced the film for Netflix.
Dan keeps applying to the K-9 unit and keeps getting turned down. Ruby keeps charming people and then outsmarting them until they give her back. When the two end up together, neither one has much of a track record. Their training arc is exactly what you'd expect — and yet it lands, because the real story behind it is genuinely odd and touching enough to carry the formula.
