Synopsis
The Survivor (2022) is a drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Barry Levinson and built around a performance from Ben Foster that is hard to shake. The film follows the real Harry Haft, a Jewish prisoner forced by SS guards to box fellow inmates for the entertainment of the camp — a condition for staying alive another day.
After liberation, Haft lands in the United States with nothing but the guilt of having survived. He turns professional boxer not because the sport heals him, but because the newspapers might. His plan: fight Rocky Marciano, get his name in the headlines, and hope the woman he left behind in Europe will see it. Vicky Krieps plays Miriam; Peter Sarsgaard and Danny DeVito round out a cast that gives Levinson room to work in the margins.
The film moves between the Auschwitz years and postwar New York in a structure that refuses easy redemption — the ring victories do not cancel what came before them, and Levinson does not pretend otherwise.
