Evil Dead

Evil Dead (2013) is a horror film you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Fede Alvarez. David brings his sister Mia to a run-down family cabin in the woods to help her quit drugs cold turkey.

The friends find a Book of the Dead in the cellar, bound in human skin and wrapped in barbed wire. Eric reads a passage aloud and wakes something ancient. At first Mia's screaming and self-harm look like withdrawal. Then she vomits blood, slices her own skin, and speaks in a voice that isn't hers. The demon takes her, then jumps from body to body. A flooded road cuts off escape, the phones are dead, and the cabin becomes a slaughterhouse of shotguns, chainsaws and buckets of gore.

Alvarez's feature debut is a brutal reboot of Sam Raimi's cult trilogy, shot almost entirely with practical effects and real prosthetics instead of CGI. Not a parody, but a bleak, relentless splatter for strong stomachs. Stream Evil Dead (2013) online on iFILM.
