Synopsis
Undercover Brother (2002) is a blaxploitation-era spy spoof directed by Malcolm D. Lee that you can watch online on iFILM. Eddie Griffin plays the title character — a disco-era relic in a funky hat and a Cadillac convertible who gets recruited by a secret Black organisation called the B.R.O.T.H.E.R.H.O.O.D. to fight a shadowy white power structure known simply as The Man.
The plot kicks off when a promising African-American presidential candidate, General Boutwell, abruptly starts hawking fried chicken instead of running his campaign. Undercover Brother goes in as a mole to figure out what happened and ends up navigating corporate mind-control, a seductive double agent (Denise Richards), and the indignity of having to act vanilla. Chris Kattan, Chi McBride, Dave Chappelle, and a very game Neil Patrick Harris round out the cast.
The film runs through every spy-movie checklist — the gadget briefing, the underground HQ, the one-liners — while simultaneously poking at racial stereotypes from both directions at once. It doesn't swing hard enough to be sharp satire, but it moves fast enough that the jokes land before you can object. Stream Undercover Brother (2002) online on iFILM.
