Synopsis
LBJ (2017) is a political biopic directed by Rob Reiner — watch online on iFILM. Woody Harrelson plays Lyndon Baines Johnson from his Senate years through the early months of an unexpected presidency. The prosthetics are heavy; the performance underneath them is not.
The film picks up in 1960: Johnson runs for president, loses to Kennedy and accepts the vice-presidency — a job designed to sideline him. Jeffrey Donovan plays Kennedy. Richard Jenkins and Jennifer Jason Leigh fill out the Washington circles watching Johnson orbit a power he can't quite reach. Then November 1963 changes everything. The rest of the film follows a single legislative push: steering the Civil Rights Act through a Congress that isn't ready to vote for it.
Reiner keeps it close and quiet — a character study, not a monument. Watch LBJ (2017) on iFILM.
