Synopsis
Turkish Delight (Turks Fruit, 1973) is a Dutch drama by Paul Verhoeven you can watch online on iFILM. It launched Rutger Hauer's career and became one of the highest-grossing films in Dutch cinema history, picked up an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film along the way.
Eric is a sculptor — raw, gifted, and socially feral. He picks up Olga in his car on impulse, and what starts as a one-night arrangement refuses to end. They move in together and burn through life at full speed: reckless, physical, constantly on the edge of falling apart. The film does not pretend their love is clean or easy. Verhoeven shows it whole, including the parts that hurt.
Monique van de Ven and Hauer have a chemistry that feels unscripted — partly because Verhoeven pushed both to go further than the page required. The result is one of those rare films where the sex and the grief land with equal weight. Stream Turkish Delight (1973) online on iFILM.
