Synopsis
The Union (2024) is the Netflix spy action-comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Mike, an ordinary construction worker from New Jersey, goes from a guy nursing a beer at the bar to a raw recruit in a covert intelligence outfit, all in a single night.
The one who pulls him in is Roxanne — his high school sweetheart, unseen for twenty-five years. She is now an operative for a secret agency that suddenly needs someone with no record and no past in the trade. Mike fits perfectly: a blank slate nobody is watching for. From there it is rooftops in London, gunfire, car chases, and a regular man fumbling to pass as a pro where one slip gets you killed.
Mark Wahlberg and Halle Berry trade exactly the easy chemistry this kind of movie runs on, while J. K. Simmons grumbles his way through running the mission. Director Julian Farino isn't reinventing anything — he spins the familiar everyman-among-spies ride with pace and a wink. Light Saturday-night fare to put on with a pizza.
