Synopsis
Strawberry Mansion (2021) is a surreal sci-fi romance you can watch online on iFILM. By 2035 the government taxes your dreams, and mild-mannered agent James Preble drives out to audit the ones people forgot to declare.
His latest case is Bella Isadora, an aging artist hiding a lifetime of dreams on a mountain of unlabeled VHS tapes. As the buttoned-up auditor wanders deeper into her archive, he finds something no tax form accounts for — a flicker of love, and a way out from under the all-seeing state. The wall between dreaming and waking quietly comes apart.
Albert Birney and Kentucker Audley wrote and directed it together, with Audley playing Preble himself. Their handmade fantasy world — rubber-suit monsters, fuzzy analog textures — feels closer to an actual dream than to polished sci-fi.
