Synopsis
Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell (2015), Season 1 is a seven-episode BBC fantasy you can watch online on iFILM — set in a Napoleonic-era England where magic has been absent for three centuries.
Mr Norrell, a reclusive Yorkshire scholar, proves magic still exists, then privately signs it away to a creature from the other side of mirrors. Jonathan Strange joins him as an apprentice, ships out to Wellington's campaign in Spain, and returns hungry for the ancient knowledge Norrell refuses to share. Their falling-out cracks open over several episodes, while the Gentleman with the thistle-down hair pursues his own long game, leaving people both men care about at the mercy of fairy whim.
