Synopsis
Orange Is the New Black Season 1 — watch online on iFILM (2013): 13 episodes that send Piper Chapman from her comfortable Manhattan life into Litchfield federal prison for a decade-old drug crime.
The shock of arrival is immediate. Piper insults the head cook on day one and stops eating. A politely-declined advance turns into a serious enemy. A prison council campaign breaks along racial lines whether she wants it to or not. Thanksgiving lands her in solitary. Larry's New York Times piece about her life inside spreads through Litchfield, and her ex-girlfriend Alex — the one Piper named to the DEA years ago — is sleeping three bunks over. By the end of the season, the stakes have stopped being merely social.
Creator Jenji Kohan based the show on Piper Kerman's real memoir, and this first season earns its reputation: Chapman's discomfort is still raw, which makes every collision with prison logic feel earned. Stream Orange Is the New Black Season 1 online on iFILM.
