The Hit List

He ends up at a bar and drinks with a stranger named Jonas, who calmly identifies himself as a professional assassin. Jonas offers Allan a free pass: five kills, anyone he chooses. Allan treats it as dark bar talk and rattles off five names. By morning, people on that list start turning up dead.

Kaufman builds the film around a neat, stripped-down premise and keeps the pace tight enough that the contrivances don't register until the credits roll. Gooding Jr. handles the shift from bitter satisfaction to full-blown panic convincingly, while Hauser plays Jonas as a stone-faced technician with no interest in explaining himself.
