Boss (2011–2012) is the Starz political drama you can watch online on iFILM. Chicago mayor Tom Kane (Kelsey Grammer) rules the city through backroom deals, fear and carefully measured lies — and has just learned that an incurable degenerative brain disorder is taking it all apart.

Kane hides the diagnosis from everyone, his wife and advisors included, while an election war tears through the city and his own memory keeps betraying him. He still conducts the bureaucrats, reporters and developers like an orchestra, but he no longer knows whom to trust, and he sees things that aren't there. Connie Nielsen plays his coolly calculating wife; Kathleen Robertson is the aide who'll do whatever it takes to stay close to power.

Gus Van Sant directed the pilot, and the series keeps his cold, clinical eye on the corridors of power. Grammer took home a Golden Globe for Kane — easily his finest dramatic work and a world away from Frasier. It's made for fans of House of Cards and slow, bleak studies of what power costs.
