Synopsis
A Little Trip to Heaven (2005) is an Icelandic-American noir-thriller directed by Baltasar Kormákur — watch online on iFILM. Forest Whitaker plays insurance investigator Abraham Holt, sent to a snow-locked town in Minnesota to verify a million-dollar life-insurance claim following the death of a known con man.
The beneficiaries are the dead man's sister Isold and her husband Fred — Julia Stiles and Jeremy Renner — who are obviously nervous about the whole thing. Kormákur shoots the film at a near-frozen pace: a half-glance, a two-second pause, a stiff answer, and Holt knows the numbers don't add up.
