Synopsis
Touch (Snerting, 2024) is Baltasar Kormákur's quiet melodrama, and you can watch it online on iFILM. With a pandemic closing borders and his own time running short, an aging Icelander named Kristofer sets off to learn what became of the Japanese girlfriend who vanished from London half a century ago.
The film moves between two timelines. In late-1960s London, a young Kristofer washes dishes in a Japanese restaurant and falls for Miko, the owner's daughter; decades later, the older man retraces that lost romance across Reykjavík, London and Tokyo. Egill Ólafsson plays Kristofer in old age and Pálmi Kormákur plays him young, while a wartime secret in Miko's family slowly surfaces.
Adapted from Ólafur Jóhann Ólafsson's novel, this is patient, hushed storytelling about memory and the road not taken — closer to a long letter than a thriller, and best suited to viewers who like their romance slow and aching. Stream Touch (2024) online on iFILM.
