Synopsis
Nixon (1995) is an American historical drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Oliver Stone and running a full three hours through the life of the 37th President of the United States. Anthony Hopkins — backed by Joan Allen as Pat Nixon, Ed Harris, James Woods, Bob Hoskins and Paul Sorvino — builds a portrait of Richard Nixon not from resemblance but from the inside out: a man who clawed his way to the most powerful office on earth and still felt like he was losing.
Stone's structure moves freely in time. The Watergate break-in cuts to 1950s California, to Vietnam, to the Senate floor, to private conversations Nixon apparently had with a portrait of JFK. The effect isn't disorientating — it's the point. Nixon's catastrophe wasn't Watergate alone; it was a lifetime of resentments that made Watergate inevitable.
Hopkins picked up an Academy Award nomination for the role, and the film itself remains one of Stone's most rigorous political works — less polemic than the director's reputation might suggest, more tragedy than takedown. Stream Nixon (1995) online on iFILM.
