A Boy and His Dog
A rather kinky tale of survival.
Synopsis
A Boy and His Dog (1975) — watch online the cult post-apocalyptic sci-fi directed by L.Q. Jones, with a young Don Johnson carrying the film almost entirely on his own. Adapted from Harlan Ellison's novella, it became a landmark of dystopian American cinema and a clear influence on everything from Mad Max to Fallout.
World War IV has reduced the surface to irradiated desert. Eighteen-year-old Vic scavenges the wasteland with Blood, a telepathic dog who sniffs out food and women while Vic handles the physical work. It's a lopsided partnership where the dog is obviously the smarter one. When Vic follows a girl underground, he finds a hidden community ruled by a pasty-faced committee with very specific plans for him — none of which he signed up for.
The film plays its dark comedy completely straight, which is what makes it land. Johnson's Vic is dim, selfish, and somehow sympathetic anyway. The ending, genuinely shocking even now, is the kind of punchline that reframes everything before it. Stream A Boy and His Dog (1975) online on iFILM.
