13 Minutes (2015) is a German historical drama directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel — watch it online on iFILM. Christian Friedel plays Georg Elser, a carpenter from a small Swabian town who, acting entirely alone, hid a handmade bomb inside a support column at a Munich beer hall where Hitler was set to speak in November 1939.
The device went off thirteen minutes after Hitler left. Elser was picked up at the Swiss border the same night and spent the rest of the war in Gestapo custody. Hirschbiegel cuts between the interrogation sessions — where Burghart Klaußner's relentless detective tries to force a conspiracy out of a man who had none — and flashbacks that trace exactly how a quiet, apolitical craftsman reached the point of building that timer.
The film is quietly remarkable for showing resistance not as heroic ideology but as one person's private arithmetic of right and wrong. Stream 13 Minutes (2015) online on iFILM.
