Synopsis
Day of the Outlaw (1959) is André de Toth's bleak winter Western, and you can watch online on iFILM. In a snowbound Wyoming town, rancher Blaise Starrett is already a hair away from gunfire with the homesteaders over a fence line. Then a far worse problem rides in.
A gang of army deserters takes the town. The one thing keeping them from tearing it apart is their leader, ex-cavalry captain Jack Bruhn — and he's carrying a wound that's slowly killing him. Robert Ryan plays Starrett as a cornered man with no heroic shine, while Burl Ives turns the dying outlaw into something closer to frightened than evil.
