Synopsis

Season 2 of Northern Exposure (1991) gathers seven episodes of Alaskan drama-comedy you can watch online on iFILM. By now Joel Fleischman has stopped plotting his escape from Cicely — which is exactly when the town starts rearranging his life for him.

It opens on a gut-punch: a letter from Elaine ends the engagement, because she's marrying an older judge back east. Suddenly unattached and a little lost, Joel keeps drifting into bush pilot Maggie's orbit, and by spring the pull between them is too obvious to keep denying. Around that thread the regulars do their thing — Holling goes under the knife to please Shelly, Ed summons a centuries-old ancestral spirit to learn who his parents were, and Maurice sits down to a grudge chess match against a visiting Soviet celebrity over bowls of borscht. The whole town waits on the ice breakup and its ridiculous running of the bulls. Fewer hours than the first batch, but the characters finally stand at full height.
