Gloria

Gloria (1999) is Sidney Lumet's crime drama, free to watch online on iFILM. Sharon Stone plays a tough, loud-mouthed gangster's girlfriend who did three years in prison to cover for her man, Kevin, and walks out expecting the money she was promised. There is no money. What there is instead is a six-year-old boy.

Little Nicky is holding a disk that got his whole family killed, and the syndicate wants the last witness gone too. Gloria takes the kid almost against her own will — and something she never knew she had wakes up in this hard woman who settles things with a gun and a sharp tongue. From there it's New York, a chase, and a choice between her old life and a boy who somehow stops being a stranger.

It's a loose remake of John Cassavetes' 1980 film, and it rests entirely on Stone, who trades the femme-fatale image for a raw character turn. George C. Scott appears in a small part.
