Synopsis
Still Crazy (1998) is a British-American music comedy you can watch online on iFILM. It follows a washed-up rock band trying to climb back on stage two decades after a bitter break-up.
Back in the 1970s, Strange Fruit had it all: arenas, groupies, drugs and constant feuding. Their frontman died of an overdose, and the band finally imploded after lightning struck the stage at an outdoor festival. Twenty years on, keyboardist Tony (Stephen Rea) catches the reunion bug and, with former manager Karen, tracks down his scattered bandmates. Bill Nighy plays vain singer Ray; Timothy Spall and Jimmy Nail round out a group of middle-aged men still chasing a dream that slipped away. A roadie played by Billy Connolly narrates the whole shaggy saga.
Director Brian Gibson turns it into a warm, melancholy comedy about second chances and the stubborn pull of old glory. The role of preening Ray was a breakout for Bill Nighy. Stream Still Crazy online on iFILM for the sharp humor and a terrific ensemble.
