Synopsis
Sabrina (1954) — watch online Billy Wilder's charming romantic comedy on iFILM, with Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart and William Holden. Wilder wrote the screenplay himself, adapting Samuel Taylor's Broadway play, and the wit he put into every exchange is what keeps the film alive seven decades on.
Sabrina Fairchild has spent her whole life on the edge of the Larrabee estate on Long Island, where her father has driven for the family for years. She is hopelessly in love with David Larrabee — handsome, careless, always engaged to someone richer than the last. After two years at a cooking school in Paris she comes back a different woman. David notices immediately. What he forgets is that his upcoming marriage is the linchpin of a multimillion-dollar business deal, which puts his older brother Linus — a man who thinks entirely in balance sheets — in the position of having to manage the situation personally.
Hepburn was twenty-five when she made this, fresh off Roman Holiday, and the ease she brings to Sabrina is something she never quite repeated. The film earned Wilder an Oscar nomination for his script, and the ending, quietly bittersweet under its surface gloss, is all his. Watch Sabrina (1954) online on iFILM.
