Synopsis

Love in the Afternoon (1957) is a Billy Wilder romantic comedy you can watch online on iFILM, starring Gary Cooper and Audrey Hepburn. American millionaire Frank Flannagan has made a career of seducing Parisian wives — and one jealous husband has finally decided to settle the score with a gun.

Ariane, the daughter of the private detective hired to catch Flannagan, overhears the plan and slips away to warn the stranger. What starts as an impulse to stop a murder quickly becomes something she didn't bargain for: the notorious playboy is charming, careless and completely taken by this serious, witty young woman who refuses to be impressed. Maurice Chevalier plays her father — a man who tracks other people's secrets for a living and misses what's happening right in front of him.

Wilder shot the film in Paris and kept it light — banter, mistaken assumptions, plenty of champagne, no melodrama. Cooper playing a man too old for his own reputation brings an unexpected warmth to the role. Stream Love in the Afternoon (1957) on iFILM.
