Synopsis

Magdalena loses contact with her boy after he sets off for the U.S. border looking for work. The authorities show her a burned body and ask her to sign — but she refuses to accept that it's him. Her search pulls her through remote, emptied-out towns where the line between victim and predator has all but dissolved. Along the way she meets Miguel, recently deported from the States and heading home to his own mother, and the two keep going together. Mercedes Hernández carries the lead.
