Synopsis
The Comeback Trail (2020) is a Hollywood crime comedy you can watch online on iFILM, pairing Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman and Tommy Lee Jones in a story set in 1974 Tinseltown. De Niro plays Max Barber, a producer who owes a large debt to the mob after his latest film tanked. His scheme: cast a faded Western legend in an action picture loaded with dangerous stunts, take out an insurance policy on him, and wait.
The legend in question is Duke Montana (Tommy Lee Jones), a man the industry gave up on years ago. The catch — and the whole engine of the film — is that Duke starts loving every minute of it. Each near-death experience seems to wake him up rather than finish him off. Zach Braff plays Max's hapless partner, Emile Hirsch comes in as a young mob enforcer, and Freeman anchors the villainous side of the arrangement with his usual ease.
