Synopsis

Swing Vote (2008) is an American political comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Joshua Michael Stern and starring Kevin Costner as Bud Johnson — an unemployed, beer-in-hand single dad from a small New Mexico town who somehow ends up deciding the presidential election.

A glitch at the polling station means his vote never registered, and the law requires a redo — one man, one re-cast ballot, winner takes the White House. Both candidates fly in immediately. Kelsey Grammer and Dennis Hopper play the rivals willing to completely reverse their platforms to win Bud over, while his sharp twelve-year-old daughter Molly (Madeline Carroll) becomes the only adult in the room. Nathan Lane and Stanley Tucci round out the campaign circus.

Released during the real 2008 U.S. election cycle, the film gets most of its mileage from watching spin doctors tie themselves in knots for an audience of one. It's lighter than it sounds — the father-daughter dynamic keeps it grounded. Stream Swing Vote (2008) online on iFILM.
