Synopsis
Petrov's Flu (2021) is Kirill Serebrennikov's fever-dream tragicomedy, free to watch online on iFILM. A car mechanic in wintry Yekaterinburg comes down with the flu days before New Year's, and his temperature pulls the whole city loose from reality.
Every overheard line mutates. A throwaway remark on the bus becomes a firing-squad action sketch; an old friend (Yuriy Kolokolnikov) drags Petrov into a drunken New Year's odyssey; his wife Nurlinisa (Chulpan Khamatova) turns into something cold and murderous after dark. Semyon Serzin anchors the haze, with Yuliya Peresild, Yura Borisov and Ivan Dorn surfacing like fragments of a dream.
Adapted from Alexei Salnikov's novel, the film played in competition at Cannes 2021 and won a technical prize for Vladislav Opelyants' camerawork. This is slow, hallucinatory cinema built on long takes and Soviet childhood memory — made for viewers who like the ground shifting under them. Stream Petrov's Flu (2021) online on iFILM.
