TV-PGSeason 2
The most gripping sitcom since 1380.
Synopsis
Step into the Tudor court of Elizabeth I — Blackadder (1986), Season 2, six episodes you can watch online on iFILM. The schemer is reborn here as Lord Edmund Blackadder, a sharp-tongued courtier who survives a dangerous, childish queen by flattering her whims.
Every episode hands him a fresh trap. His manservant turns out to be a woman, so he abruptly decides to marry. The job of Lord High Executioner falls apart when the Queen pardons a man he's already beheaded. Sir Walter Raleigh wins her favour with a potato, so Blackadder reinvents himself as an explorer. Then come a debt to a sadistic bishop, a Puritan aunt and uncle arriving on the night of a beer-drinking contest, and a kidnapping by a German spy. Baldrick keeps offering a cunning plan; it never helps.
This is where the show became a classic — Miranda Richardson as the petulant Queenie, Stephen Fry as the pompous Melchett, the Curtis and Ben Elton scripts honed to a razor. The best place for a newcomer to start. Stream Blackadder Season 2 online on iFILM.
