TV-PGSeason 4
The most gripping sitcom since 1380.
Synopsis
Blackadder (1989), Season 4 — watch online on iFILM: six episodes of the BBC sitcom that drop the scheming Edmund Blackadder into a muddy trench in Flanders during the First World War.
The orders are simple and lethal. Sooner or later General Melchett will send everyone over the top, straight into machine-gun fire, and Captain Blackadder spends the whole run dodging that moment. He volunteers as cook, then as a war artist, then stages a music-hall revue with Baldrick doing Charlie Chaplin and George in a dress — anything for a ticket back to England. A court-martial over the General's pet pigeon nearly ends him first. Across all six episodes the absurdity of the army tightens around three men who know the war is mad.
Rowan Atkinson, Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie play the farce flat out, yet the final episode, "Goodbyeee", lands quiet and devastating — the reason many call this the best Blackadder. Stream Blackadder Season 4 online on iFILM.
