Synopsis

Blackadder (1987), Season 3 is the BBC sitcom you can watch online on iFILM — six Regency-era episodes in which Edmund Blackadder serves as butler to the gloriously stupid Prince George and runs the whole household behind his back.

Each story spins out of his master's latest folly. Blackadder rigs an election to get Baldrick into Parliament and spite Prime Minister Pitt the Younger. He has one weekend to rewrite a burned dictionary. He bets he can rescue French aristocrats as smoothly as the Scarlet Pimpernel. He shields the Prince from anarchists and a pair of hammy actors, hunts him a rich bride who moonlights as a highwayman, and finally ends up facing the Duke of Wellington's pistol himself. Baldrick still swears by his cunning plan.

Hugh Laurie plays Prince George here, and his double act with Atkinson carries the run. The Curtis and Ben Elton scripts feel sharper and wordier than before — less farce, more wit. Stream Blackadder Season 3 online on iFILM.
