Twenty-five years after the archangel Gabriel launched an angel army against humanity, the survivors live behind the walls of fortified city-states. Gabriel's forces still press at the gates, but inside Vega the real danger is political — two powerful houses are locked in a cold war for control, and a coup is being quietly assembled. At the center of it all is Alex Langsford, a young soldier who discovers he may carry the mark of a prophesied savior. The archangel Michael, the one celestial who chose humanity's side, keeps a close eye on him.
