Fresh off a breakup with high-school sweetheart Nick (Dylan Sprouse), April (Hannah Marks) clicks with Clara (Liana Liberato), the girl who took her place. They agree on one rule — never mention the ex — and try to keep their summer friendship a secret. Marks co-wrote the script as well as starring, and it shows in the quick, text-message-fluent dialogue. Funny, warm and more grown-up than the premise suggests, it treats female friendship as something that can outlast any romance. A good pick for anyone raised on coming-of-age movies.
