Sara Paxton takes over as Marnie this time. She enrolls at Witch University, built inside the Cromwell family's old castle, and runs straight into the haughty Sinister Sisters. The campus has banned spellcasting altogether, which a born witch is never going to accept quietly. Then an ancient Cromwell amulet surfaces, and it turns out the sisters want its power for themselves. With her brother Dylan, Marnie has to crack the amulet's secret before Halloweentown reaches its thousandth anniversary.

The movie keeps the Disney Halloween tradition going: spooky trappings, no real scares, easy fun for kids and nostalgic grown-ups. Debbie Reynolds returns as Grandma Aggie.
