Nightmares & Dreamscapes: From the Stories of Stephen King (Season 1)
Synopsis
Nightmares & Dreamscapes (2006) is a television anthology drawn from Stephen King's short stories, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Eight episodes, eight separate tales, made for the TNT network.
Every installment stands on its own. In "Battleground," a hitman fends off a box of living toy soldiers with almost no dialogue — the whole thing rests on William Hurt. In "Autopsy Room Four," William H. Macy's character wakes on a coroner's table, unable to move or make a sound. Elsewhere: tourists lost in London's Crouch End, a painting that lets death step onto the highway, and hitchhikers best left on the shoulder. Tom Berenger, Ron Livingston and Henry Thomas round out the cast.
The set adapts King's 1993 collection of the same name and runs on old-school TV horror — less gore, more dread tightening by the minute. Uneven, the way anthologies are, but with some genuinely unsettling stretches, best for anyone who likes King in small doses.
