Synopsis
Requiem (2006) is a German drama by Hans-Christian Schmid you can watch online on iFILM. Michaela is twenty-one, raised in a strict Catholic household, and has fought epilepsy since she was a child. University hands her freedom for the first time — and seizures that medicine can't quite account for.
Away from home she falls for a boy named Stefan, finds a friend in Hanna, and drifts from her mother's faith. Then the attacks change. She hears voices, sees things, and a priest tells her the cause is not medical but demonic. Her friends push for a psychiatrist. Her church pushes for an exorcism. She is left to choose alone.
Sandra Hüller carries the whole film without a single effects shot, and the part won her the Silver Bear at Berlin. Schmid drew on the real Anneliese Michel case — the one that also inspired The Exorcism of Emily Rose — but made a quiet tragedy about belief and illness rather than a horror picture.
