Synopsis
Borg vs McEnroe (2017) is a sports drama you can watch online on iFILM. It builds toward the 1980 Wimbledon final, where Sweden's Björn Borg defended his crown against a brash young American named John McEnroe. Danish director Janus Metz runs the show.
Sverrir Gudnason plays the unshakable Borg; Shia LaBeouf plays McEnroe, a player who argued with line judges almost every game. The story isn't only about the match. It cuts back to Borg's childhood, to the grip of coach Lennart Bergelin (Stellan Skarsgård), and to the quiet panic of a champion convinced that one slip ends everything.
A nice touch: young Borg is played by Leo Borg, the tennis star's actual son. The five-set finale gets reconstructed point by point, and it grips as hard as the real thing did.
