Trial & Error (2017) is an NBC mockumentary comedy you can watch online on iFILM. A fresh-faced New York lawyer arrives in the small town of East Peck, South Carolina, to defend an eccentric poetry professor on a murder charge.

The professor — Larry Henderson, played by John Lithgow with maximum theatrical bewilderment — is accused of killing his wife. The entire defense team is hilariously incompetent, and so is the local investigation. Shot as a straight-faced true-crime documentary parody (think Making a Murderer played entirely for laughs), the series mines its comedy from how seriously everyone treats an increasingly absurd situation.
