Beast Wars: Transformers (Seasons 1–3)
Synopsis
Beast Wars: Transformers (1996) is a landmark animated series you can watch online on iFILM — the first fully computer-generated Transformers show, produced in Canada by Mainframe Entertainment.
The Great Wars are long over. The Maximals, descendants of the Autobots, and the Predacons, heirs to the Decepticons, are still at each other when two rival ships crash-land on a primitive planet soaked in raw energon. To survive the radiation, both crews scan local animals and lock into organic alternate modes: Optimus Primal as a gorilla, Megatron as a tyrannosaurus. The fighting resumes immediately. David Kaye's voice performance as Megatron — theatrical, coldly amused, never cartoonish — turned the character into a fan favourite within the first season and is still the standard against which other Megatrons get compared.
The show started as straightforward action for younger viewers and grew into something more layered by its third season, with writers Larry DiTillio and Bob Forward pushing the continuity in directions that surprised even longtime Transformers fans.
