Synopsis
The Silence (Das letzte Schweigen, 2010) is a German crime thriller by Baran bo Odar you can watch online on iFILM. A wheat field, a hot summer afternoon, a child's abandoned bicycle. Twenty-three years earlier a girl named Pia was murdered on this exact spot, and the killer was never caught.
Then thirteen-year-old Sinikka disappears from the same place. The echo is too precise to ignore. Detective David and his colleague Jeanne take the case, leaning on Krischan, a retired investigator who worked the original killing and never let it go. While Sinikka's parents are trapped in agonising uncertainty, Pia's mother feels the old wound tear open again. The cast includes Ulrich Thomsen, Wotan Wilke Möhring, Katrin Sass and Burghart Klaußner.
Baran bo Odar, who later created the Netflix series Dark, isn't interested in the chase. He digs into guilt — the kind people bury for decades until it surfaces. The film cares less about who did it than about how everyone keeps living afterward. Slow, heavy, free of cheap scares, it's built for viewers who love Nordic noir and patient European genre cinema.
