Synopsis

A boy from an Arkansas cotton farm loses his older brother and grows up under a father who never lets him forget it. A guitar becomes his way out. In Memphis he walks into Sun Records, cuts tracks beside Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins, and climbs fast from nobody to headliner. Fame brings pills, a broken marriage, and ten years of longing for June, who shares his stage and keeps her distance.
Phoenix and Witherspoon did their own singing instead of miming over the originals. Witherspoon took home the Academy Award for playing June. The film lives in the falling apart and the getting back up, not the stage lights. Stream Walk the Line (2005) online on iFILM.
