Synopsis
The Last Broadcast (1998) is a lo-fi horror mystery you can watch online on iFILM. A four-man crew from a public-access show called Fact or Fiction heads into the desolate Pine Barrens of New Jersey, set on broadcasting proof of the legendary Jersey Devil live on the air.
Only one of them walks out. The others turn up dead, the survivor is convicted and locked away — and a year later a documentary maker decides to comb through the recovered tapes frame by frame. What he finds doesn't square with the verdict. The whole film is built like that investigation: stitched together from raw footage, audio and interviews, with no reassuring narrator to tell you what's real. Shot almost entirely on early digital video by Stefan Avalos and Lance Weiler, it landed a year before The Blair Witch Project and is now credited as one of the first found-footage horror films ever made. The scares come less from gore than from editing that makes you doubt your own eyes. Stream The Last Broadcast (1998) online on iFILM.
