Synopsis
The Spiral (らせん, 1998) is a Japanese horror thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by Joji Iida, it picks up right where Ring left off, with the cursed videotape claiming fresh victims.
A pathologist agrees to autopsy a friend who died without warning — journalist Ryuji Takayama. The deeper he digs, the clearer it gets: that haunted recording is behind it. He destroys the copies, hoping to break the chain. The curse refuses to die. Koji Sato, Miki Nakatani and Hiroyuki Sanada lead, with Nanako Matsushima returning from the first film.
Where Ring leaned on dread and folklore, this one reframes Sadako's curse as something closer to a virus — spreading by cold biological logic rather than ghostly will. That odd, clinical angle makes The Spiral (1998) a fascinating chaser to the original, streaming online on iFILM.
