The Substitute

The Substitute (Vikaren, 2007) is a Danish horror-comedy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Ole Bornedal of the original Nightwatch. A sixth-grade class in Copenhagen gets a new teacher. She's efficient, beloved by parents, and deeply wrong in ways only the kids can sense. Paprika Steen plays her with a controlled, unblinking calm that makes the funny moments land harder than the scary ones.
