Synopsis
All of Us Strangers (2023) is a British drama you can watch online on iFILM, written and directed by Andrew Haigh, starring Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal. Adam is a screenwriter living alone in a nearly deserted London tower block. A knock from his only neighbour, Harry, interrupts the quiet rhythm he has built around himself — and something starts to open up.
At the same time Adam travels back to the suburban house where he grew up, and finds his parents there, the age they were when they died in a car accident over thirty years ago. Haigh — working from Taichi Yamada's novel — offers no mechanism for this; the film simply lets Adam sit with his mum and dad, played with extraordinary care by Claire Foy and Jamie Bell, and have the conversations that were never possible. Scott holds every scene without pushing, and his scenes with Mescal carry a different kind of weight: longing, not loss.
The film picked up the BAFTA for Outstanding British Film. It is quieter and more patient than most 2023 releases, and it earns every minute of that patience. Stream All of Us Strangers (2023) on iFILM.
